My 29 year old son, Jeff, proposed to his fiancé in February 2015 – we were planning a wedding! But things took an abrupt and unexpected turn in July when he became sick with what was thought to be pneumonia. Unfortunately, when he didn’t improve, he was diagnosed with Stage IV lung cancer in August 2015. He fought for four long months but lost his battle on December 3, 2015.
I, along with the lives of all he touched along the way, miss him every single day.
I always thought smoking caused lung cancer, but that's what made Jeff's diagnosis so unimaginable - he never smoked a day in his life! We learned quickly that there are numerous causes of lung cancer and all you need is a set of lungs to get this deadly disease!
During Jeff’s battle, we learned about the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and all they are doing to eradicate this horrible disease through research, early detection, education, and treatment. Their goal is to turn lung cancer into a chronically managed disease by the year 2023.
In his memory, I have formed Team Jeff, and will walk in Columbus on May 6, 2018, to raise money for the BJALCF. If you can, please join me in the walk or donate in support of a cause that is close to my heart. I’m so grateful for any contribution you can make - together we can make a difference!
